The TAPC/Linda McLaughlin Scholarship is awarded to a worthy college/university student.  Scholarship applicants must have a connection to the staffing/recruiting industry and may be employees of the staffing/recruiting firm, relatives of a staffing/recruiting firm employee, temporary or contract employee for a staffing/recruiting firm, etc.  A person within a TAPC member staffing/recruiting firm may forward the scholarship application on to a qualified individual and must provide a written reference on that individual.   The scholarship applicant will then complete the application and essay and submit it by the deadline in November by email to ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) or fax (1.866.488.7601).  The scholarship committee will determine the winner of the scholarship and notify the winner and the TAPC member firm representative by mid December.  The scholarship check will be written directly to the recipients college/university and sent in January in time for the Spring semester.

2009 TAPC/Linda McLaughlin Scholarship Recipient Named!

TAPC/Linda McLaughlin scholarship applicants are judged on academics, community and campus involvement, TAPC/local chapter involvement, financial need, interest in the staffing/recruiting/HR field, ethics, and a written essay.

TAPC is proud to announce Laura Mardis as the 2009 TAPC/Linda McLaughlin Scholarship winner! Laura is pursuing her M.S. in Accountancy at the University of Houston, where she carries a 4.0 GPA. Residing in the Houston area, Laura works for Burnett Staffing Specialists, a TAPC/HAAPC member firm.  At Burnett Staffing Specialists, she fills the role of Staff Assistant and is a member of both the Golden Key International Honour Society and Psi Chi National Honor Society.

Laura will be recognized at the Texas Association of Personnel Consultants' (TAPC) annual conference in Houston in April 2010.

A special thanks to the scholarship committee and particularly Paul Austin of Qualitec who continues to underwrite this annual scholarship. Congratulations Laura!

In early 2009, Jim Higgins, HAAPC board member presented Deloris Houston and Yvonne Horner from Spina Bifida with a check from funds raised by HAAPC at their silent auction at their spring awards banquet. Also pictured is Haley, Jim's granddaughter and a regular attendee at "Camp For All" the camp that Spina Bifida uses HAAPC's donations to enable kids with Spina Bifida to attend a week-long camp each summer.
